What to do in the event of a claim
1 – Secure site and ensure no one is injured and the area is safe
2 – Contact police or relevant authorities as required i.e. Fire Department, Services Providers, Plumber etc.
3 – Complete the attached claim contact form so we can contact you as soon as possible or phone us on 1300 Cover1 (268 371).
4 – Take photos of all damaged property, location and details of items involved in loss as we will require these for claim lodgement.
If you require Urgent Assistance outside Business Hours please consult your policy documents as to best contact details for your insurer to proceed with prompt lodgement of your claim.
Ensure the location is safe and take all reasonable precautions to minimise further loss, damage or liability.
You must notify the police if the claim is in relation to theft, attempted theft, malicious damage or lost property. Please record the name of the officer, police station and incident number as your insurer will request these details.
Do NOT dispose of any damaged property or evidence until the insurer has advised to do so. We strongly advise taking photographs of damaged items and forwarding these to us along with your claim form so that these can be provided to the insurer.
For any damaged items the insurer may request quotations for repairs. We can discuss the process with you to ensure an efficient assessment is made by the insurer.
Proof of ownership together with quotes for replacement items is generally required for stolen or lost property. We recommend providing evidence such as purchase receipts, photos of items or packaging and manuals to support the claim.
Tips for Motor Vehicle Claims
If the incident involves a third party do not admit liability. Record all details of the third party including:
– Vehicle description and registration number
– Third parties insurer and policy number if known
If your insurer offers phone lodgement – phone and lodge the claim and they will be able to advise the next steps in the process and in some cases provide you with contact details for a repairer if you do not have a preferred repairer already.
If lodging the claim yourself, and a claim form is required, we recommend receiving advice from your insurer with respect to their process for obtaining quotes for repairs.
